From Munich : If you come by airplane you will have to rent a car at Munich Airport (train conections from Munich are available but you have to change twice). You have an approx. a 2 ½ hour drive to Zell am See/Kaprun. Take the airport exit and proceed on the Autobahn direction Munich. Well ahead of Munich follow the signs to Salzburg. You drive on the Autobahn always direction Salzburg. Take short before Rosenheim a right hand and enter the the Autobahn direction Kufstein, Innsbruck.  Exit the Autobahn at Kufstein Süd and follow the sign “ Felbertauernstraße” . You will pass the cities of St. Johann, Kitzbühel, Mittersill. In Mittersill turn into direction Zell am See.

 

From Salzburg : If you come by airplane you will have two options, rent a car or the train. If you rent a car the drive is 1 ¼ hours .Take the airport exit and follow the signs Lofer , Bad Reichenhall but stay on the main road and do not enter the Autobahn. Pass Bad Reichenhall and follow the signs Lofer, Saalfelden, Zell am See. If you prefer the train you can catch every two hours at Salzburg Hauptbahnhof a direct train to the station of Zell am See. It is approx. a 2 hour ride.

 

From Zurich : There are direct trains from Zurich to Zell am See. If you take the car, the drive is approx. 4 ½ hours. Go direction Vaduz/Liechenstein and Austria. You will enter Austria near Feldkirch. Go to Innsbruck and then on direction Kufstein / Munich. Exit the Autobahn at Wörgel Ost direction St.Johann / Kitzbühel. You will pass the cities of St. Johann, Kitzbühel, Mittersill. In Mittersill turn into direction Zell am See.

 

From Milano : There are direct trains from Milano to Zell am See. By car it is 5 ½ hours. Go on the Autobahn to Verona and then follow the directions Brennero where you enter Austria. At Innsbruck turn direction Kufstein / Munich. Exit the Autobahn at Wörgel Ost direction St.Johann / Kitzbühel. You will pass the cities of St. Johann, Kitzbühel, Mittersill. In Mittersill turn into direction Zell am See.

 

From Paris : Either take the plane to Munich or Salzburg and proceed as described above, or take the direct train from Paris to Zell am See.

 

From London/Bruxelles/Amsterdam: Fly to Salzburg or Munich and proceed as described above.

 

Fly to Zell am See : Zell am See has its own airport, but you will need your own airplane as no commercial airline is flying in due to weight restrictions of the runway.

 

 Normally end of May beginning June is a dry season. Days are warm, up to 23°C (73°F) and nights cool down so you will need a sweater. But be aware that we are in the Alps and weather can be nasty. Before you leave please check up the four day weather forecast for Salzburg and Innsbruck either at www.cnn.com or you can e-mail us a request for the local forecast.
